I was lucky enough a few years ago to take a few courses in graduate school with Kim Dalkir, a leading authority on knowledge management and knowledge management-related fields.
She has recently published the book ‘Knowledge Management in Theory and Practice’, which is a great foundational book for both people just getting acquainted with knowledge management, as well as those looking to deepen their understanding of the field.
You can read the description of the book on Kim Dalkir’s site, or read an independent review from the Havard School of Business if I haven’t already convinced you.
I don’t really recommend very many books on this site, but this one is definitely a must-read. It does exactly what it says it’s going to do: it gives you the theory behind something, and then presents you with practical examples of that theory.
You can pick it up from Amazon.
